Ridge Trail Cruz: Hike or Ride, Family Friendly to Challenging

'Cruz' the Ridge Trail through the Santa Cruz Mountains
Join fellow trail enthusiasts on the 5th Annual Ridge Trail Cruz to hike or ride through the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. Celebrate & enjoy the Bay Area Ridge Trail, while supporting it's completion. This multi-use event has a variety of hiking & riding options, including special family hikes, and all offer scenic trails with gorgeous vistas. You can challenge yourself with a long hike or ride, or take a leisurely family stroll,
Registration This is a fully supported event with rest stops, lunch, snacks, water, route leaders, & maps provided. Communications and first aid support have been arranged. Hikers & cyclists will be transported by bus for a one-way hike. Advance registration is required and attendance is limited, please register promptly.

Hikes: 5, 8, 13, 19, & 26 mile and Family Hike options. All longer hikes are challenging with at least 1000 feet of elevation gain, with many ups and downs. Family hike includes visit to Nature Center and choice of 2 or 5 mile hike to lunch.
Horseback Rides: Equestrians will have a choice of rides, from ~10 to ~ 23 miles, with varying amounts of climbing. All routes have a mix of fire roads and singletrack riding.
Mountain Bike Rides: 13, 19, 25 & 35 mile options. Cyclists will enjoy a unique opportunity to "preview" the Ridge Trail in Sanborn County and Castle Rock State Parks as part of this 1-day special event before their opening to mountain bikes [riders MUST be registered for this event to ride in these parks].
Help Raise Funds to Complete the Ridge Trail Participants can join the "Cruz-a-thon" & support the Ridge Trail. Ask friends & colleagues to sponsor you at $1, $5, or $10 per mile. Top fundraisers will win prizes donated by REI.

About Bay Area Ridge Trail Council: The Bay Area Ridge Trail Council is the nonprofit organization that plans, acquires, builds, maintains, and promotes the Bay Area Ridge Trail, a 550+ mile trail encircling the San Francisco Bay along the ridge tops, open to hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts of all types. So far, we have dedicated over 325 miles of trail for use by Bay Area residents, now and forever.
