San Francisco's Comedy Day Turns 30 on Sunday, September 19
Organizers vow to continue presenting the free five-hour funfest every
year until they get it right!
Don't miss the 30th annual presentation of the world's first outdoor
comedy concert. That's right, Comedy Day is turning 30, but you can trust
that it will continue to bring five hours of funny to Sharon Meadow in
Golden Gate Park from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 19. The free
event features 30 comedians on one stage in a non-stop relay of jokes.
This year's complete lineup, a combination of up-and-coming talent,
national and Bay Area favorites, and a cadre of comedians who first
performed during Comedy Day's early '80s infancy, will be announced in
late August. Also on tap will be the annual Stand-up Comedy Legend Award.
Comedians scheduled to appear in 2010 so far include Tom Ammiano, Diane
Amos, Ngaio Bealum, Dick Bright, Andy Bumatai, Larry "Bubbles" Brown,
Candy Churilla, Brian Copeland, Debi Durst, Will Durst, David Feldman,
Marga Gomez, Caitlin Gill, Billy Jaye, Jeremy Kramer, Grant Lyon, Kevin
Meaney * John Means (Dr. Gonzo), Rick Overton, Steven Pearl, Greg Proops,
Bob Sarlatte, Carrie Snow, Tony Sparks, Johnny Steele, Howard Stone, J.
Raoul Brody and The Stupeds, plus very special surprise guests!
Founder Jose Simon's dream of a free, open-air comedy celebration became a
reality in 1981, and since that time, more than 600 of the world's
funniest comedians have performed gratis for more than a half-million
people. Comedy Day has hosted many of the biggest names in stand-up, among
them Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, Garry Shandling, Ellen DeGeneres,
Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone, Brian Copeland, Rob Schneider, George
Lopez, Will Durst, Greg Proops, Dave Chappelle, Margaret Cho, Dave Attell,
Arj Barker, Brian Regan, Jake Johannsen, Patton Oswalt, Janeane Garofalo
and Father Guido Sarducci.

Comedy Day is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) event that is a long-standing
tradition in San Francisco. The event has attracted more than 60,000
attendees in a single day. Contributions to Comedy Day help support the
production of each year's event; provide a high school outreach program

comedians for hospitals, nursing homes, etc.
