Works by Kan Kwok Fan

Date/time:
Jan. 28 - Mar. 28, Tue-Sat 10-4, Sun 12-4

The Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco is proud to present "Works by
Kan Kwok Fan" as our upcoming exhibition. Kan Kwok Fan's works are
dedicated to upholding the traditional art of brush painting belonging to
China's long and vibrant history. The exhibition, which is free, is on
view January 28 - March 28, 2010. An opening reception will be hosted at
the Chinese Culture center on February 6, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

Kan Kwok Fan was born in Zhong Shan, Canton, China and moved to Hong Kong
in 1969 after discovering his passion for brush painting. Kan Kwok Fan's
passion was ignited when he came upon a torn calendar with a landscape
painting of maple leaves. He later discovered the brush painting Lingam
artist, Master Chao Shao An, who he studied under for over twenty years.
Kan Kwok Fan brought his paintings to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada and
the United States which were critically acclaimed for its handling of ink,
water and color, gaining him international recognition. Kan Kwok Fan's
works are noted for his exquisite capture of the reality in flowers,
birds, insects as well as natural landscape.

After moving to the United States, Kan Kwok Fan has become a dedicated
member to our community of San Francisco where he is received as a humble
man of modesty and hard work. He is also a strong force in preserving the
arts of traditional China for our Chinese community in Chinatown against
America's ever changing and merging of cultures. Currently, Kan Kwok Fan
is a Chinese Art instructor for San Francisco American Asian Art
Association and Asian Art Institute.

We are very excited to showcase "Works by Kan Kwok Fan" which features his
painting "Crouching Tigers", particularly in the upcoming Year of the
Tiger. We are also honored to have the opportunity to share his beautiful
artwork with our community of Chinatown and beyond.
