Publishing & Writing Conference
Authors and independent publishers face an odyssey filled with risks and opportunities. To reach the goal of successful publishing the author travels a long and arduous route from idea to manuscript to book to bookstores, libraries, and readers. The 2010 NCPA publishing conference, "A Publishing and Writing Odyssey," will aid authors and publishers in that journey.
This conference is a value-packed day for publishers and authors, featuring national and regional experts. Seating is limited. Advance reservations strongly advised.
Speakers:
Keynoter Dominique Raccah, founder of Sourcebooks and one of Book Business's "Top 50 Women in Publishing."
Clint Greenleaf, CEO of Greenleaf Book Group, discussing book distribution and marketing.
Marion Gropen, MBA, (Gropen Associates; "The Profitable Publisher" blog), on finance for independent publishers.
Verna Dreisbach (Dreisbach Literary Management) presenting an agent's view.
Teresa LeYung Ryan, author (Love Made of Heart) and writing coach, on building fame for fiction and nonfiction authors.
Author-entrepreneurs Karl Palachuk, Stephanie Chandler, and Linda Lee on the "e-world" for authors and publishers.
A buffet lunch is included. An on-site bookstore will feature award-winning books by regional independent publishers and authors. Sponsor tables will provide information on services and resources for publishers and authors, and attendees will have opportunity for informal networking and for Q&A with the speakers.
Discounts are available for early registration. "Early-bird" registrations must be postmarked by February 17, 2010. Members of NCPA and of "sister organizations," including California Writers Club and others, receive discounted registration before April 19, 2010.
Conference sponsored by Northern California Publishers & Authors (NCPA), a non-profit association dedicated to supporting and encouraging independent publishing. NCPA, founded in 1991, is an affiliate of SPAN and IBPA.
