Description

Amazing aromas, raucous laughter, spontaneous cheers and applause mark Cooking with Class, a fundraiser to benefit Providence Heritage House at the Market and Providence ElderPlace and the generally low-income elderly residents they serve.
Cooking with Class is the foodie event of the year (non-foodies welcome, of course). This fun evening includes great food and wine, a small live auction and raffle featuring culinary-related items.
Twenty-two chefs, each with his or her chosen recipe, will teach small groups of eight guests in three 30-minute classes. Donated wine is paired with the dishes.
This year features DeLille Cellars Doyenne Roussanne with Racha's duck wraps, Syncline Rose with Waterfront Seafood Grill's Spanish mojama with poached duck egg, O Chardonnay with 67's sea scallops, and Brian Carter Cellars' Byzance with Le Pichet's chicken liver terrine.
Salty's on Alki has donated its entire banquet floor, passed hors d'oeuvres, staff, a pre-event meal for the volunteers, and food for the post-event kick-back time for volunteers and chefs. Three Salty's chefs, Executive Chef Jeremy McLachlan and Pastry Chef James Gibson of Alki and Executive Chef Gabe Cabrera of Redondo, will participate in the event.
All chefs and wineries donate their time and product. Auction and raffle items are donated as well.
John Curley, formerly of KING-TV's Evening Magazine, and John Howie, owner of Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar, Sport and Adriatic, lead the auction. Auction highlights include Executive Chef Wayne Johnson of Andaluca cooking a dinner for six in your home, and an overnight stay at Salish Lodge with a special wine dinner designed by Executive Chef Justin Sledge and a country breakfast in The Dining Room.
Proceeds benefit residents and participants of Providence Heritage House at the Market and Providence ElderPlace.
