Hope Uncorked, Wine Tasting Benefit Gala with Celebrity Support
Fertile Hope (fertility resources for cancer patients) will host Hope Uncorked, its 2nd Annual Southern California benefit gala on April 5, 2008 at The Annex, Wolfgang Puck's top floor event space at the Kodak Theater's Hollywood & Highland Center. Distinguished guests will enjoy exquisite wines paired with generous samplings of Wolfgang Puck's signature dishes.
For the first time, the event will be highlighted by a celebrity design campaign with signed and decorated Psi Bands by celebrities who have been personally touched by issues surrounding cancer, fertility and/or parenthood. Psi Bands (pronounced "sigh bands") are fashionable drug-free wrist bands that use acupressure to relieve nausea due to chemotherapy, morning sickness, motion sickness, and anesthesia. Fertile Hope and Psi Bands are working together toward a common goal - improving the lives of both cancer patients undergoing treatment as well as those whose parenthood dreams are coming true.
Fertile Hope is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.
Over 2.5 million cancer survivors in the US are still in their childbearing years and each year approximately 140,000 young cancer patients are newly diagnosed and put at risk for permanent infertility. Research indicates that among a variety of health and wellness issues, infertility the most important to young survivors, however less than 10% are ever informed of their risk by an oncology healthcare professional. With the proper information, resources and support that Fertile Hope provides, survivors can become parents. Proceeds raised at Hope Uncorked will directly benefit young adult cancer patients.
