FAMILY ADVENTURES under the BIG Oak Tree
FAMILY ADVENTURES First Saturday of the month, 2:00 pm Meet under the BIG Oak Tree in front of Ayres Hall Adventure Guide: Lisa Beach Cost: $15 per family for members; $20 per family for non-members) Pre-registration required. In the event of rain, the program is cancelled.
Each Saturday will have a different theme relating to nature or the environment, and will include a variety of activities such as a short story or talk, a walk to a special part of The Arboretum, and a take-home nature craft activity.

March 4 Nature Folktales Many trees and flowers have stories that have been told about them for centuries. Come on a tree folklore hike around The Arboretum, earn about some of these fine tales, and make a nature journal to take home with you!
April 1 Eggs At The Arboretum ~ An Egg Ecohunt! Come on an egg hunt of a different nature! Instead of looking for eggs that a certain bunny hides, we’ll be hiking around The Arboretum in search of eggs found in nature… like peacock or butterfly eggs! Afterward we’ll make and take decoupage Easter Eggs!
May 13 Mother’s Day Hike & Tea Come take a short hike out to the Herb Garden! We’ll learn about the many plants there used to make teas while we sample some of our own!
June 3 Painted Fish And Fish Painting! Let’s venture out to the ponds near the beautiful Kallam Perennial Garden to visit, feed, and learn about the colorful Koi Fish. Bring a T-shirt and make yourself a painted fish-shirt!
July 1 Make A Patriotic Garden Come and hike through the many theme gardens at The Arboretum - like the water garden, herb garden, and rosemary maze! Make your very own family theme garden to take home - a patriotic theme garden of red, white, and blue!
August 5 Arboretum Outback Take a hike through Australia! Learn about The Arboretum’s cool trees of Australia and make and take home your very own Australian tree frog craft! Did you know that The Arboretum has the one of the largest collections of Eucalyptus trees outside of Australia?!
