Speaker: Valerie Barish Williams

Valerie Barish Williams is President of Nashira Coaching and Consulting, and has over 20 years of experience driving the effective delivery of programs and strategies designed to attract, develop, reward and retain the talent necessary to achieve business success. Valerie has served as a human resources executive with highly regarded industry leaders (Walt Disney Company, Apple Computer, BEA Systems and Sperian) serving as consultant, coach and strategic advisor to clients in the entertainment, technology, and consumer products industries.

She completed her undergraduate studies in Sociology at West Virginia University and an executive management program at the University of Southern California. Additionally Valerie is a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute.

One of the greatest challenges we face as managers (and as individuals) is dealing with difficult people. This is especially true when it comes to delivering effective, meaningful performance feedback to the most trying people on our teams.
In this seminar, learn tips, tools & strategies to help managers improve their overall communication with the most challenging folks on their teams, and ways to main the integrity of the performance management process when delivering difficult feedback. Tips include how to:
- Maintain control in difficult performance conversations.
- Ensure that key points are heard and acknowledged.
- Maintain your self esteem & the self esteem of the other person when conflict arises.
- Know when and how to put an end to unproductive communication.
- Maintain the objectives and integrity of the performance management process when conversations go awry.
- Keep your sense of humor and personal space when dealing with difficult people.
